BEATNIQ derives its name from the 20th century “Beatnik” culture and “uniqueness”. Prior to becoming the BEATNIQ, the Sukhumvit 32 site was home of the Western-style 60’s hotel, The Rex, one of the first western style hotels in Bangkok and a popular late night food destination famous for its khao tom gui.
In homage to The Rex, the BEATNIQ retains its Mid-Modern era characteristics with a self-described “Extravagant” steel and glassware interlocked geometric exterior. This creates overall dark grey and white stonewall building tone that blends Mid-Century Modern architecture with the modern era. The interior also has a design that blends architecture of the 20th century with contemporary arts.
