Talk of opening a casino in Bangkok with relaxed entry rules for foreigners.

 The future of casinos in Thailand might be marketed toward foreign tourists. A government committee discussing the legalisation of gambling, which has been long practised by Thais behind closed doors, are discussing the possibility of opening the first casino in Bangkok and then expanding to open casinos in other tourist destinations. Officials are considering making entry rules far more strict for Thais than for foreigners.

 Talks by a special government committee, which was recently set up to discuss opening casino complexes, are still in the early stages and still need to be formalised by the committee before moving forward in the approval process.

 Under the discussed measures, it won’t be that easy for Thais to get in. Foreigners, on the other hand, will be welcomed into the casino as long as they show their passports. But for Thai gamblers, they’d need to show their identity card, career information, source of income, financial status, saving account, statement, and financial credits. The casino complex would also have a minimum age limit and entry fee.

 The head of a break-off group for the casino committee told Thai media that Bangkok and the surrounding areas would make suitable locations for a casino with the convenience of airports, expressways, motorways, and a variety of accommodations. Other locations would be popular tourist destinations in border provinces near immigration checkpoints. (The Thaiger).

Surprise! Ikea’s opening another Bangkok store – downtown

 Ikea dropped a big surprise late Friday afternoon with word it will soon open another store in Bangkok, this time right on Sukhumvit Road.

 Downtown dwellers can say goodbye to treks to Bang Na or Nonthaburi when the Swedish furniture retailer opens at Emsphere—the long under construction mega project mall taking shape next to the Emporium shopping mall by BTS Phrom Phong. 

 Ikea didn’t mention any opening date or the concept for its new location. All we can say is it’s still good news that we don’t have to trek all the way to Bangyai just to buy their furniture. 

Ikea first opened at Mega Bang Na before adding another location in Nonthaburi’s Bang Yai district. But that wasn’t enough to satisfy Thailand’s appetite for affordable Euro furniture with odd names, as it opened another on Phuket and another is under construction next to Central Rama 2. (The Coconuts).

Of course, Sukhumvit Road is the main city artery.

This is justified for several reasons. Firstly, the convenience of living - a developed road network, BTS stations, buses and taxis allow you to plan your time in such a way as not to stand in traffic jams all day.

Foreigners love Sukhumvit. Here, trendy restaurants and bars, shopping centers and world-famous points of nightlife in the capital are presented in large numbers, offices of world famous brands.

 As well as the opportunity to study at prestigious international schools and universities.

 Developers are actively changing the face of the city.Hotels and condominiums in Sukhumvit area are designed both for people on a limited budget and for people who expect to receive a luxury service.

 Some areas are populated mainly by representatives of ethnic diasporas (for example: Indians, Arabs, Koreans, Japanese, etc.)

 This whole kaleidoscope attracts tourists and professionals from all over the world. And developers are ready to satisfy almost any request.

 These factors make this street very popular among expats.
